Where Are They Now? A Check In With Obagi Ambassadors

We recently checked in on our 2014 Obagi Ambassadors of the Year to find out how their Obagi® skin care regimen is going. Some of their answers are below, and have only been edited for brevity and grammar. (In other words, these are real people sharing real stories and real results. As always, individual results may vary.)

“I Am Truly Enjoying My Clear Face”

Ambassador’s Name: Stacy N.

Products used: Obagi CLENZIerm M.D., Vitamin C Serum

Obagi: Hi Stacy, tell us how your experience with CLENZIderm and Vitamin C serum. Also, what’s one piece of skin care advice you would give your younger self?

Stacy: I have had several people (mostly from those friends / family members who are close enough to me to be truthful!) mention that they think I look “more youthful” than I did ten years ago!

My acne is so much more under control as a result of using the Obagi CLENZIderm M.D.™ line.  It has cleared the acne I was so prone to.* In fact, I almost never have a pimple now, which has minimized my daily routine greatly. When I was in the midst of dealing with acne, I spent so much time attempting to cover up the damage with makeup and concealers, which only added to the problem of breaking out.  This summer, I’ve even had a few days where I left the house with barely any foundation on at all (this was something I couldn’t dream of doing prior).

One piece of skin care advice I wish I could tell my younger self is to have some patience when it comes to a skin care routine. Take the time to wash off your makeup at night before bed, and take the time to properly moisturize daily (especially around the eyes!) and apply sunscreen (or use a foundation with sunscreen) to help avoid sun damage.**  If you’re struggling with acne issues, it’s worth the time to get a second (or even third) opinion if you are not getting satisfactory results.

I would certainly tell my younger self to NOT lie in the sun without sun protection – in the early 80’s we used to fry ourselves like bacon by lying in the sun with nothing more than baby oil.  I make my two teen boys wear sunscreen on each summer outing now – and my husband, as well!

“I Got Carded”

Ambassador Name:  Lynda B.

Products Used: Obagi Sunscreen, Obagi Nu-Derm®

Obagi: Lynda, catch us up on how your skin care regime with Obagi has been going. And do you have any advice you’d like to share with your younger self?

Lynda: I am still religiously using Obagi morning and night and so thankful I stumbled upon this product.  I truly wish I had started the Obagi Nu-Derm® system years prior.

I got carded buying some bottles of wine yesterday.  I asked the clerk why he didn't card the customer in front of me, and he replied, "He had gray hair." The clerk was amused when he looked at my ID. I could have been his grandmother!

Another fun story: My younger sister was helping me with a garage sale.  She assisted a gal to her car with her purchase. The gal then asked my sister, “Where is your daughter moving to?” Daughter?  My sister is 4 years younger than me!

I recently moved to Charleston, SC.  Love the sunscreen for my face!  It really helps protect my skin while I’m outside, boating, or golfing.**  Perfect for my active outdoor lifestyle.  I even have my 12-year-old granddaughter using it!

I have friends and family members trying to order Obagi through me!  They all think I'll get a commission… My reward is my youthful complexion.   I hope they all see their doctor to start the regimen!  Well worth the investment.

I would tell my younger self to begin a skin care regimen sooner than later.

“They Thought My Daughter Was My Sister”

Ambassador Name: Michelle M.

Products Used:   Obagi-C® Rx System

Obagi: Michelle, thanks for taking the time to chat with us. Do you have any stories you’d like to share about your experience with Obagi? And we’ve asked the others, and now ask you: What advice would you share with your younger self?

Michelle: My 22-year-old daughter and I went to a wine tasting event last weekend, and several times we were asked if we were sisters!  She probably hates that but that makes me feel very good!

I'm still using the Obagi-C Rx system, which works the best for my skin.† †  After becoming an Obagi Ambassador, I've had the opportunity to tell my family about the product.   My mother has recently switched to Obagi, and my stepmother has begun to use some of the products as well.

I would tell my younger self to start a skin care regimen in my 20's and always use sunscreen!

Important Safety Information for Nu-Derm Clear and Blender; and Obagi-C Rx C-Clarifying Serum and C-Therapy Night Cream

(contains 4% hydroquinone)

People with prior history of sensitivity or allergic reaction to this product or any of its ingredients should not use it. The safety of topical hydroquinone use during pregnancy or in children (12 years and under) has not been established.

Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or lips. In case of accidental contact, patient should rinse eyes, nose, mouth, or lips with water and contact physician.

Sunscreen use is an essential aspect of hydroquinone therapy because even minimal sunlight exposure sustains melanocytic activity.

Contains sodium metabisulfite, a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in certain susceptible people. The overall prevalence of sulfite sensitivity in the general population is unknown and probably low. Sulfite sensitivity is seen more frequently in asthmatic than in nonasthmatic people.

Treatment should be limited to relatively small areas of the body at one time since some patients experience a transient skin reddening and a mild burning sensation, which does not preclude treatment.

Pregnancy Category C: Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with topical hydroquinone. It is also not known whether hydroquinone can cause fetal harm when used topically on a pregnant woman or affect reproductive capacity. It is not known to what degree, if any, topical hydroquinone is absorbed systemically. Topical hydroquinone should be used on pregnant women only when clearly indicated.

Nursing Mothers: It is not known whether topical hydroquinone is absorbed or excreted in human milk. Caution is advised when topical hydroquinone is used by a nursing mother.

Pediatric Usage: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 12 years have not been established.

Use of the product should be discontinued if hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients is noted.
